Micromax has already spread its wings far and wide, both in India as well as in Russia and word around the tech world is that the major still has a few surprises up its sleeve. The tech giant is now reportedly prepped a new handset, one that is powered by none other than an octa-core architecture.
According to a recent tweet sent out by veteran Micromax leakster MMXNewscaster, Micromax is readying a new handset named Canvas Knight A350/Canvas 5. Powered by a Mediatek MT6592 octa-core 2 GHz processor and a 2 GB RAM, the smartphone packs in 32 GB of internal memory. It may even support external memory expansion and pack in dual-Sim support.
Hardware and Specifications The Canvas Knight A350 is powered with a 2 GHz octa-core processor from an unnamed chipset manufacturer and in terms of memory, the device comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately though, the device does not support expansion of storage using microSD card.
Screen and Design The phone has a 5" IPS LCD with capacitive touch screen and features a full HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution that gives an effective pixel desnity of about 441 PPI. In terms of design, the device will supposedly inherit the same looks and feel as spotted in other Canvas series devices by Micromax.
Camera and Multimedia It features a 16 MP primary rear facing camera with LED flash that could be used for better low light photography. The primary camera has all the common features that includes geo-tagging, panorama, HDR, smile/face detection, etc. The camera is capable of recording full HD (1080p) videos as well. The device also comes with a secondary 5 MP front facing camera that could be used for video calling and snapping self-portraits.
In terms of multimedia capabilities of the device, it supports playback of all the common multimedia formats including, but not limited to, MP3, MP4, WAV, AAC, AVI, etc.
Software and Features The phone runs on Android v4.2.2 JellyBean operating system with some UI customizations done by Micromax. The device also comes shipped with all the common apps and software features including Gmail, Google Search, Maps, Hangouts, document viewer, image/video editor, etc.
Battery and Connectivity The Micromax Canvas Knight A350 is packed with a 2450 mAh battery that should be enough to keep the device powered for an entire day with moderate usage. Connectivity options on the device includes - GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 & USB v2.0.
